MEET THE SAFE-UP PARTNERS
BAX & COMPANY
Who belongs to your SAFE-UP team?
Martin Östling (Senior Research Specialist) at Autoliv Research is leading Autoliv's participation in SAFE-UP. Krystoffer Mroz (Senior Research Engineer) at Autoliv Research provides CAE Support in occupant protection and Human Body Models (HBMs). Linda Eriksson (Senior CAE Specialist) and Mikael Dahlgren (Expert System Engineer) at Autoliv Sweden, provide CAE and system engineering support in occupant protection and Human Body Models (HBMs). Linus Larsson (Expert Design Engineer) from the Seatbelt development department and Stefan Knutsson (Advanced Project Engineering Leader) from the airbag development department, contribute to WP4 and WP5 with their seatbelt and airbag expertise and also support DEMO 1 prototypes (testing new seating positions for highly automated vehicles).
What does BAX bring to the project?
Autoliv brings solid expertise in the area of biomechanics and occupant protection. All members of the team have more than 10 years of experience in developing occupant protection systems. The CAE support team has extensive experience in using various types of crash test dummy models to analyse, design, and optimise occupant protection systems. In addition, the team has human body modelling experience from using the state-of-the-art human body model SAFER HBM.
Why did you want to take part in SAFE-UP?
Autoliv’s ambition is to save 100,000 lives every year by 2030, aligning well with the impact SAFE-UP is hoping to achieve. The project brings many key partners together to define and agree on common priorities for future crash scenarios. We believe that developing safety assessment methodologies for these common priorities is best done in collaboration. Consensus in the project facilitates implementation, foreseeing and resolving potential complications that one partner alone might overlook. We believe SAFE-UP will provide the integrated safety assessment methodologies needed to save more lives on European roads.
Which other initiatives are you involved in?
Autoliv takes part in many projects that receive funding from the Swedish government as well as the European Union’s research and innovation programmes. For occupant protection and the development of virtual testing, Autoliv was part of the SENIORS and OSCCAR (www.osccarproject.eu) projects. The results from these projects are still highly relevant for our work in SAFE-UP. For ADAS development and in-cabin monitoring, Autoliv was part of the ADAS & Me project and is involved in the MEDIATOR project (www.mediatorproject.eu/).
